Maine coons may seem intimidating due to their enorumous size, but they are actually gentle giants who love spending time with their humans. Maine coon cats are the gentle giants you need in your life. They enjoy being part of the family and are not fans of personal space or privacy. These cats will gladly follow you from room to room as you go about your day.     Although Maine coons are affectionate and social, they are not usually lap cats. This breed tends to prefer hanging out beside you rather than on top of you, which can be a good thing given their size. ​   Maine coons are highly intelligent, fun-loving, and maintain their playful nature well into old age. The Maine Coon Cat Club refers to them as the "clowns of the cat world." They are not an aggressive breed and will tolerate being held, picked up, and cuddled. Maine coons are friendly, kind, and patient with children.
